Head Start has influence our history since the beginning the program had help many families. Althoughthe main interest of this program was to help middle class families. The program have progress inhelping people who are immigrating to our country. Many events help improve how the system works.One event that influenced early education was the nursery movement. From all the programs only HeadStartis one that is still active in helping lower class people. Even though the program was setup to helpmiddle class at the time, now is helping families with low income and bilingual families. AfricanAmericans knew of the importance of education. There was a case that happened in 1954, which wasBrown v. Board of Education. This was one of the many fights the create new changes for kids that wereseparated because of their color. This was the opportunity for equal rights in education. This stephappened when the Civil war was over and African Americans were educated by leaders like MaryMcLeod who created the Bethany Cookman College. After this more colleges were funded the follow thephilosophies of Pestalozzi, Froebel, Dewey, Gstanley Hall, who help the AfricanAmericans education.These create opportunities for females, womens were able to obtain a degree in the education field ofeducation. The NACW was funded to support women in their education. After this event we had morechanges in early childhood education. Nurseries, laboratories,school were available, leaded by thenursery school movement. Then we had organization such as Children's Defense Fund that help set upkindergartens. NAEYC was another organization that was represented by an African American who laterdeveloped the Child development Associate (CDA). Native Americans benefit from the programs likeEarly Head Start.
