Preschool Should Be Free
Many people in the United States want to be able to send their children to free public preschool. The U.S. has a strong education system for grades K-12, but it does not offer pre-school to every child. Educational research shows that children who go to preschool are more ready for school than children who stay at home. Some people disagree with this research. They believe that children need to be at home with their parents, and that parents are the best teachers for small children. This paper will argue that free preschool allows children from all backgrounds to get the experience and support they need to be successful in school. Some people think that children need to be at home with their families. Other people think that preschool helps children get ready for K-12 school. Since the 1960s, educational researchers have shown that kids who go to preschool do better in school and stay in school longer. Some families do not have enough money to send their children to good preschools. The U.S. needs to provide strong, free preschool education, so that every child can have the same opportunities to learn and succeed.
