Head Start Research Paper

The career I am interested in is Early Learning and Development. I want to be a preschool teacher working in head start program. I believe the interaction between children and caregiver has significant influences on children development. Head start can provide me opportunities to interact with children in a most direct way. Except children’s caregiver at home, they spend most of their time with teacher in school. Preschool teachers play important roles in their development. Head start is a program mainly helping children with financial difficulties. Parents in those family are struggle with their income and might have less time with children which also leads to an even more important role of teacher. I have worked with her when I was a senior in high school. Her responsibility in head start is lead children learn through playing. She designs activities for children such as Valentine art project for practicing children’s fine motor skills. She is also responsible for children’s safety and make sure children are not hurting each other. More, her work also includes teach children using toilet, table manner, reading, language skills. The mission of the head start she is working for is increasing school readiness for low-income children. Her initial goal was simply being a teacher, but after working with different age group of children and in different programs, she thinks head start is the place she wants to stay because the children there need more teacher and more love.
