It was enjoyable to listen to how each of the three women experienced pregnancy and their opinions on it. I found there were some similarities in all three pregnancies including: they all conceived naturally, they had a vaginal birth by their choice, they all had healthy babies, they all used prenatal care, and they all had some type of food craving. There were also differences in all three pregnancies including: the changes they made in their lives, their emotions throughout and after the pregnancy, and which trimester they believed was the easiest and hardest. Through the interviews and what I have learned in the textbook, I did realize how important prenatal care is (Cook 116-117). I found that the two mothers whose pregnancies were planned and started prenatal care immediately had less complications than the mother whose pregnancy was not planned and was late starting prenatal care. I believe the book did a great job on stressing how important health is and taking care of the baby during the pregnancy (Cook 91), but I would have like have learned more about the emotional adjustments that have to be made. The book touches on the subject slightly when talking about adjusting to becoming a parent (Cook 106); however, the book does not mention much about post pardon depression or the excitement the family experiences. From doing this assignment I was able to see just how wonderful child birth is and the joy and excitement that a baby can bring to a family. I also learned about the difficulties that are associated with it and how to overcome them. I really enjoyed this assignment and believe it was a great learning
