The Importance Of Leadership

I believe that I have the power to make radical positive change in the world; this mentality is not something I have always had though. Growing up, I experienced several frustrating time periods when I felt like all my dreams to make an impact were discouraged by some of the people around me. My preference in leading is to only step up to lead when no one else steps up. As a result, there have been many times throughout my life that I have not stepped up because I have not felt particularly needed as a leader.
In the culture we live in now I believe this mentality is fairly common. There is this idea that we are either not needed or not capable of leading and making huge impacts. This mentality is inaccurate and unhelpful. While I think it is good to step up and only lead when we are actually needed (not just out of a desire to be in control), I think this means we should be stepping up all the time. The injustices in our world are so evident and what is needed is more willing hearts, minds, and hands to combat these injustices and show love to others. There is an urgency for individuals to identify these injustices and take action to address them.

After these experiences a new focus has entered my life. As well as my goal to continue ministry in Southeast Asia, another goal of mine is to empower and show love to the people around me in my daily life. I wholeheartedly believe that I am surrounded by many incredible, unique, and gifted people who have no idea how valuable they are. I want to live to my full potential and see others live to their full potential. I have a deep desire to encourage, mentor, and empower others to dream, learn, and take action to make positive

I would hope that in my six years prior to being promoted to an assistant principal, I would have laid the foundation for positive relationships with the students, or at least some pocket of students. Additionally, I would think about the mindset of not necessarily the students, but the current faculty and staff and begin to measure the outlook that is currently in place. From here I would want to make changes that lead the community to a more positive mindset and outlook. Green (2013) states, “Effective leaders emphasized the development of interpersonal relationships while focusing on the personal needs of followers and the development of the kinds of relationships that would motivate followers to set and achieve high performance goals”.…

To get these traits in my group, I must be aware of my personal strong leadership practices as well as my weak ones in order to improve them. I’ve found that some of my strong leadership practices include, “fostering cooperative rather than competitive relationships among people I work with,” “praising people for a job well done,” “following through on promises and commitments I make in this organization,” and I “treat others with dignity and respect.” (Insights) Some of the practices I believe I need to improve on are, “keeping current on events and activities that might affect our organization,” “finding ways to get feedback on how my actions affect other people’s performance,” and “taking initiative in experimenting with the way we can do things in our organization.” (Insights) Self awareness is one of the best traits to have as a leader and realizing from these practices what I need to work on and what I do well will only make me that much stronger as a…

“Key Qualities of Leadership” Individuals involved within leadership roles can “make or break” a company. Without key qualities of leadership, an individual cannot fully provide their customers or its employees with the experiences they deserve. Without proper skills and reinforcement, leaders cannot foster a positive workforce or support their employees. Without certain key factors a leader or manager becomes just another employee, and not the leader they are required to be. Having leaders with the skills such as honesty, accountability, the ability to inspire and to delegate, and basic communication skills are all necessary parts to becoming proven and respectable leaders within a business.…

People in general are diverse and have distinct components which make them unique and sets them apart from the next person. Among all of our distinct characteristics and appreciations for various subjects, many of us bring assorted passions and expertise on different topics. Even in recognizing my own interests and passions, I have yet to fully carry out a business concept I created back in 2011 which is still not in existence today. Recognizing there is still a desire to pursue my idea, while feeling disappointment for not executing its existence, I’m intrigued with James Kouzes’ and Barry Posner’s ability to spearhead the concept of leadership and become experts on their passion for organizational leadership. I agree, meeting these…

I can still remember the day when my parents told me the phrase, “You are a leader, not a follower.” It was in kindergarden right after I told them about a few girls who were making fun of a friend of fine, and I decided to stop them and defend her. When my parents told me that phrase, it definitely stuck with me throughout my life. I think that’s a phase most kids hear time to time in their childhood. It’s that phrase that makes you question, what it a leader?…

A normal person might strive to be average, to be the okay for the moment and never truly use their full potential. For a normal person, being in a leadership position can sometimes be too hard, complicated, and stressful if they are not dedicated or prepared. Each of these factors can discourage many people, people who have the potential but not the training or motivation to hold a position of leadership. I, however, believe that I have the potential, the training, and the motivation to do something amazing as the VP of District Four. As I stated, every person has the potential to be a leader, though some stand out more than others.…

The elite regulation or leadership is necessary for proper order but it is also dangerous at the same time. The elite leadership is necessary for coordinating behaviors, binding decisions, and resolving conflicts (Magagna). Elites need to step in to prevent the democratic assembly from being chaotic and resolve issues before they escalate into big conflict, which could endanger the social and political harmony. However, elite regulation could also generate potential danger in protecting peace and harmony and even the wellbeing of citizens because elites could take advantage of their political positions and exploit the innocent citizens to centralize their power and authority. This observation leads me to ask the following question: How does…

The one verse I will forever live by is Psalm 143:8, “Let the morning bring the word of Your unfailing love, for I have put my trust in You. Show me the way I should go, for to You I entrust my life”. This verse tells me that I do not need to fear about singing in front people, or fear befriending people, or fear leading others, or fear anything in this world because the moment I gave my heart to God, He continually held onto it with such a delicacy. He knows that I trust and have faith in Him, and likewise, I know He trusts and has faith in me. Many people do not think about God having faith and trust in them, but He does.…

I encouraged him to do some research before we get together because that could help me to understand what type of information he wanted to include in his paper. I enjoyed helping him because he was engaged to find new ideas that we could combine it in a useful way. I only hold to the position of a leader just a day because…

The Importance of Teachers as Leaders In today’s world, there is an ever-present need for restructuring our public school systems, particularly regarding leadership in our schools. “Teacher Leaders” is a term that is becoming more used in today’s educational setting. Teacher leaders, or leaders as teachers, are teachers “who aspire to stretch beyond their classrooms to engage in leadership roles that take many shapes and forms, both informal and formal” (Education Commission of the State, 2010, p.1). This is not a new concept but one that is being tweaked.…
