The body cameras were added because the department wanted to provide transparency for the community. Recently, a lot of departments have gone under fire for many reasons, and one being police brutality, but the Belle Plaine Police Department is making an attempt at preventing that by requiring police officers to wear body cameras (Stolee). The Jordan Police Department does not require officers to wear body cameras, but that that does not mean that the department is not transparent. Jordan resident, Nora Perez, believes that the department is very transparent. She also stated that she feels 100% safe and protected. Jordan residents in general feel safe and believe that the department is transparent. Overall both departments do a great job at being transparent and providing safety. Moreover, the priorities of both police departments are to keep crime low. For example, according to the Jordan Chief of Police, drugs are a problem in the city. Drugs like marijuana have always been a problem, but crimes that come with drug use may vary. As well, drug rates fluctuate, for example, meth was a problem about 10 years ago in Jordan, but recently the drug has made a comeback and police forces have been responding to problems related to the drug. When Jordan Chief of Police, Brett Empey, was asked if he thinks department is involved with the community his response was, "we do so much, I can 't even remember all events". The Jordan Police Department is greatly involved with the community. They take part in many events, for example, Celebrate Jordan. The police department also instructs DARE and support many Minnesota Teen Challenge presentations. In addition to all of that, the police department also oversees all events in Jordan. Moreover, the Belle Plaine Police Department is also involved with the community. The department oversees all events in Belle Plaine. The department also instructs the DARE program. In addition, the Belle Plaine police department reported that all events in the area went well, and with very minimal criminal activity. Both police departments believe that preventing crime and having good public relations is crucial to having a good police force
