Black Lives Matter has been all over the media in recent years. Accusations of police brutality and racial profiling and has led to many riots and protesting across the country. This has caused millions of dollars in damage and disrupting the peace just to gain attention for their movement. Is the Black Lives Matter movement actually helping or is it just causing a racial divide? If you go by the facts, it 's not racial profiling that gets blacks in trouble. Cops don 't wake up and wonder how many black people they can arrest, their job is to protect and serve the community. But many blacks believe that just because they 're black they have a higher chance of a run in with a police officer. It may be a sad fact to face, but the reason blacks have so many run ins with police is very simple, Statistics show that they commit a lot of crime. Even though blacks only make up 13% of the population in the United States. They commit around half of homicides in the U.S. Department Of Justice statistics show that from the years 1980 to 2008 blacks committed 52% of homicides and whites committed 45%. That is a startling fact as blacks make up only 13% of the population and whites make up 77%. So why is there riots and protest? It is because many black’s ignore the fact that they are more likely to commit a crime. They think the reason they are being arrested and sometimes shot by the police is because their skin color.
