Persuasive Speech : Energy Drinks Essay
Specific Purpose: To persuade my audience that energy drinks should not be used to boost energy.
Thesis: Energy drinks are harmful and dangerous. INTRODUCTION
A. Attention Material/Credibility Material:
1. Four years ago, 14-year-old Anais Fourier was hanging out with her friends at the mall when she went into cardiac arrest. The coroner’s report concluded that she died from cardiac arrhythmia due to caffeine toxicity. Anais consumed two 24-ounce cans of Monster energy drink in a 24 hours period. This amount of caffeine is about the same as 14 cans of coca cola.
B. Tie to the audience: When you drink an energy drink, you are putting yourself at risk for serious problems that could be life threatening.
C. Thesis and Preview:
1. Thesis Statement - Energy drinks should be avoided until regulated by The Food and Drug Adminstration, also known as the FDA.
2. Today I will talk about what is in energy drinks, the harmful effects, and why the FDA should regulate them.
