She called herself, Jane Doe and she was held in immigration custody until a rule hearing about her case. Jane Doe came to the United States not knowing she was pregnant until a body inspection where she found out she was nine weeks pregnant. Texas has a lot of barriers that prevent women getting an abortion; women who want to have an abortion need to get the abortion within twenty weeks of the pregnancy and provide proof of her physician that will perform the abortion, along with proving that the woman is not a minor with multiple identifications. Along with the time frame and providing the proof that the state mandates, the woman seeking an abortion needs to visit the abortion facility twice, one for a sonogram and the second one is to receive abortion pills or to have the in-clinic abortion (Planned Parenthood). Doe was prevented to get her required sonogram and her mandatory religious counseling, so she could reach the twenty weeks which would have made it illegal to get an abortion in the state of Texas. Doe came in as a minor with no guardians because she did not want her parents to know about her pregnancy. Federal officials told her mother about her daughter’s pregnancy and how she wanted to get an abortion, violating the order of being allowed to have an abortion without her parent’s knowledge
