It could be possible that personality play some role in helping an employer gage if a certain personality trait plays a role in an employee’s job performance. According to Converse, Peterson, and Griffith (2009), personality measures are valuable forecasters for how well an individual will perform on the job. However, it is important that an employer have the ability to detect when false measurement is used by an applicant (p.47). With this information it is clear that there are some benefits for employers having a way to properly measure a potential employee personality type. Perhaps by having this ability an employer can identify early on whether an individual is the right fit for the position in which they are applying. If they are not the right fit, it could possibly be easier to avoid hiring them and having them to perform poorly in the position for which they were hired. However, having the ability to properly measure could also help an employer identify whether the personality type an applicant is presenting is actually their personality of if they are falsifying themselves in order to get the position. …show more content…
Accroding to Kline and Storey’s (1978) personalities are often inferred traits. A person’s personality is not always tangible and having a way to measure that personality can be difficult (p. 375). Having this information, it is possible to see how it would be difficult to measure a person’s personality. There might be moments when it might be possible for a hiring manager to make the wrong decision. The reason could be because it is difficult to properly gage whether an individual truly possess the right personality for the position for which they are applying.
