I have started to go after nursing without fully knowing, what it actually is and what kind of changes will this career choice bring in to my life. Graduating in 2014 and only with one year working at the nursing facility, I am still new in the nursing. Based on my educational journey and working experience, I do not regrade my career choice and willing to explore what I can do with it and how I might grow professionally and personally by doing nursing. This reflection project aims to self-evaluation based on Nurse Manager Skill Inventory tool.
Personal and professional accountability is crucial aspect in the health care field. In the Code of Ethics for Nurses, Provision 4 states, “the nurse has authority, accountability and responsibility for nursing practice” (ANA, p. 18, 2015). In order to be an accountable nurse, I have to know the scope of my practice and have clinical skills to preform procedures and manage medical equipment. Personal growth and development come from furthering one’s education whether from nursing program as RN-to-BSN, RN-to-MSN, and such or through other means as Continuing Education classes, obtaining certifications in specialty, or gaining experience through work. I do not see that I reach some high level of my education, as I am doing only my BSN now. I acknowledge that out there are many opportunities, programs, and classes that I need to explore and see how they might assist me in my professional growth as a nurse. As career planning is one of…
