These activities have taught me many things about adaptability, effective collaboration, and accountability. In my career, I have raced for many different teams, under many different circumstances. Multiple team changes have taught me what works and what doesn't work in a team. The insight I have about what makes a positive team environment is a contribution that I can offer to the Squaw community.

I am the kind of person who wants all of my ducks in a row so when one or two are out of line, I get flustered not to mention overwhelmed to the point wanting to quit. The past few years have been one of loss in various ways; my father’s passing, my beloved pet for nine years passing, my husband’s illness, the loss of our house as well as the loss of my husband’s and partner’s business. Even though we are still reeling with the impact of what we have been hit with, we continue to encourage one another emotionally to look ahead, not dwell on the past.…

As an athlete, I began my journey in sports full of dedication, fire, and hopeful anticipation of what I could do on the football field and on the basketball court. Much of my life has been devoted to extracurricular activities such as sports and the comelec, which taught me hard lessons in ethics and values that have made me who I am today. I not only represented my school varsity, but also sports clubs outside of school, which led me to compete in several local and international tournaments. As well as my passion for sports, I grew into my passion for service; service for others and for my school, partaking in clubs and community service activities, each endeavor playing a role in the development of my abilities and expansion of my potential…

I have always tried to be captain for my teams and always try to be a leader outside of sports. Throughout the beginning of my high school career, I was a captain for my sports and a coach to many young kids that enjoy the sport I love. When it came to other things besides sports, I strived to be the quiet one that looked after the ones that were falling behind, and always tried to propel and help them along the way, so in that retrospect I was not a leader that was leading the way, but last one in line helping pick up the pieces. 3. The Nicaragua Service Trip club surprised me that someone like myself who has been so privileged could get along and be a role model to these kids and adults that literally had nothing to their names and their future looked dim.…
