Personal Narrative: Pencils

Improved Essays
It was the sixth grade. I was in science class on a normal day. But I had a feeling things were going to get worse. I decided to mess with two pencils and that was a bad idea. Before I knew it I had to go to the doctors. And have to get something removed.
The pencil split down the middle and a big sliver under my thumb nail. I tried to get it out but I made it worse. eventually I told my teacher and she had tweezers but they were too big and she told me to go to the office. They had sliver removers but that didn’t work either. So my mom came to the school and she took me to the doctors.
When we got there we had to wait for what seemed ever. Then the doctor came in the room. She had to examine it. Then she said she is going to try with tweezers.

I discovered my first visual metaphor after i had gotten out of the shower this morning. I shut the water off, hopped out of the shower and grabbed a hanging towel from the wall. Because of this exercise i was keeping an eye out for everyday items that struck me as something familiar. As soon as i pulled the towel off of its hanger it appeared to me that a whale had just jumped out of the water. The whale was all submerged except for its tail.…

I stabbed the threaded needle through the layers of velvet and patterned fabric, hissing and thinking nasty words as my fingers holding the fabric felt hot, blinding pain. Dropping the fabric and pricking the needle on top, I inspected the finger, glad to see that there was no blood despite the remaining throb of pain. I removed the needle and picked up the fabric, resuming my sewing. This time, I made sure that my fingers weren’t on the receiving side of the needle’s wickedly sharp tip. My experience with sewing is at the beginner’s level.…
