Personal Narrative: My College Experience At The University Of Wisconsin-Eau Claire

Decent Essays
I am particularly interested in the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire due to all of the impressive things i've heard from my older brother who attended for 3 years before transferring due to major switches. All of the amazing opportunities Eau Claire gave him to succeed as well as determine what he wanted to pursue really have drawn me to attending this school. Furthermore, I hope to acquire the same great college experience he had while attending this school. Being that the city of Eau Claire is so similar to the town I grew up in and have come to love makes going to UW- Eau Claire that much more important to me. Coming from Neenah/Appleton area, which is roughly close in size to Eau Claire would make my transition into the school and area much easier which is an important aspect of Eau Claire that I admire.

As a first time student attending Spokane Falls Community College, I honestly thought that the only buildings and areas of campus involving my class schedule would be of importance. Little did I know that one room I would encounter would become my safe haven. I remember the first day stepping out onto campus and all I saw was a giant riddle waiting to be solved so many parking spaces, buildings, rooms, classes, and students. The anticipation bubbling up inside of me was exciting and rooted with a little nervousness. I was searching for place to keep me focused on my goal of being a successful student, a place to refresh between rigorous lectures.…

Being the first in the family to take interest in college is already enough for everyone to push me in the direction to achieving it. Although I do not want to admit it, these traits all apply to me. Opinioned doesn’t sound as an appealing word to me I should say I like for people to understand my views completely also I don’t mind if someone does not agree with me, it just adds more depth to the discussion.…

My past laid out upon a table. My GPA, my resume, my test scores. An unfamiliar man whom I met for the first time was frowning, turning around in his creaky red chair, while hurriedly trying to contextualize my life with just a few pieces of paper. For 15 minutes, he sat there, unhappy, tapping his foot, analyzing what I’ve “done” with my life. He took a sip of water and suggested that I go to community college.…

My graduate experience will be light years different then my undergraduate training. I chuckle just contemplating the technological difference alone. Back when I attended undergraduate school there wasn’t the internet, the LoudCloud, e-books, or personal laptop computers. We thought we were “hot stuff” because we progressed from the slide ruler to a state of the art Texas Interment graphing calculator. By the way google informed me that my particular calculator at that time was the first of its kind.…

Today was a slow day, but very education. I am finding that out that my time at CTLC is better spent watching than actually doing things. When I walked into the double door facility I seen the usual faces, and I greeted them as I made my way back to my little small cubical office. When I arrived at my office about two minutes after greeting several people, I noticed a small green sticky note that was on my desk from the day prior. The note was to remind me about the Homeless Alliance meeting at the chamber of commerce in Temple TX.…
