The Card Game One evening, on a cold rainy night. I sat at my grandparents kitchen table. I stared into my grandpa’s glossy green eyes as I knew I was about to win this game of crazy 8’s. All of the sudden he dropped his cards on the table, stood up, and started to walk around. I called out to him asking where he was going, he did not answer. I started to follow him, when he abruptly stopped at the front door of his newly built house. I glanced at him and noticed he was just staring off into the distance. I ask him what he heard, he did not say one word, but made a faint sigh, as he turned around and made his way back to the kitchen table. Then we continued our game like nothing ever happened. A couple of weeks later, there we were again, in an intense battle of crazy 8’s. I noticed he was staring at his hand of 7 cards. I wait patiently for him to put one of his cards down. I walk into my grandparents ranch home. I notice a little toy boat that represents how my grandpa loves to boat. The house seems a little quiet. The tv is not on and grandpa is in his chair. I get a little closer to him and hear him snoring. My grandma starts to talk to me about how he cannot walk anymore. I ask her what is happening to you. She quickly replies old age, and tells me not to worry about it. I feel like it is more than that though. As she turns away she starts to cry, I can hear the sniffling and she wipes away the tears. A couple of hours later, he is awake, and watching tv. I was in the kitchen. I could see you out of the corner of my eye. You were quiet. But all of the sudden I hear a loud scream! He is screaming at the tv, but not screaming words, just random sounds. I run to you, and tell you to calm down. But scream “GET AWAY FROM ME”. I walk away from you. I feel a tear roll down my face slowly. I could not stop it. Why did he tell me to get away from him? What is happening to
