My parents did not understand and thought I was too young to make a big decision like that. My mom kept trying to feed me chicken and when I would deny it, she would then try to sneak and hide it in my other food. I always caught her though. My aunt tried to explain to my mom that I was just going through a phrase and that I would grow out of it really soon. That is, in my terms at least, when I get food that has meat products in it, next to it, or on top of it. Most people would just say to pick the meat out of it. To me that does absolutely nothing! The animal’s meat juices are already mixed in with my food! Telling a vegetarian to just pick the meat out is like telling a kid with a peanut allergy to just take the peanuts out of the food, eat the rest, and they’ll be fine. It is not practical and it is not right. Through my course of being a vegetarian, I often get asked by a lot of people if I am going to allow my children to eat meat. With all do respect, I can not rightfully say I will or I won’t. If the ways of obtaining the animal meat are changed to less harmful and more humane ways then maybe I will allow them to eat it. If the ways are not changed then I really do not know. At the end of the day, it is their decision just like it was my choice to become
