The Cave: A Short Story

Good Essays
I went into the cave to try and get some sleep but couldn 't. I finally dozed off at 6:30 but was awaken at 7:00 am. I heard voice outside of the cave getting closer and closer. I knew I had to leave. As I ran out of the cave, four people came into the cave. Luckily, there were two entrances to the cave and I slipped out of the other entrance just before the people would have been able to see me. I ran down the mountain as fast as I could, still limping from the car crash earlier. Even though it was 7:00 am, the sun was up and it was a scorching, cloudless day. I got in the car and sped off down the road. I ended up finding an old abandoned house close by. It was a blackish-grey color with a few windows broken out and a few were boarded …show more content…
I stayed where I was crying until the gunshots stopped and six guys came into the house. I came out to see their guns were drawn as so was mine. I shot two of the six men and rolled behind a wall quickly to reload. I turned and shot another one, and then another one. I turned to reload again when I felt a stinging pain in my leg. A guy was standing behind me and shot my leg. I kicked his legs out and kicked his gun away. I turned the corner and the fifth guy was standing right there. I shot him and turned to the man I kicked over, who happened to be knocked out. I grabbed his gun and woke him up. I then shot him in both legs and in the rotator cuff in the shoulders. He screamed in pain. I then put both guns to his eyes and shot him at point blank range. I leaned against the wall, breathing heavily and bleeding from the wound. I managed to remove the bullet and tear some clothing from the dead guy beside me to cover the wound. I got up and limped to the car I drove here. At this point it was 5:00 pm. I managed to find some granola bars in the vehicle. There was also a water bottle that was half full. It was warm but I drank it with the granola bars. I turned on the radio and I was all over the news. I was wanted for triple homicide. I turned it off in disgust and drove off, thinking about leaving my friends to die, tears streaming from my face. I stopped in a town in middle of nowhere and got some real food. I only had ten dollars. I ate only a …show more content…
With tears rolling down my cheeks, I load up with the ammo I have and the two automatic pistols I obtained. I respond, “To Hell with you all,” and stand up and shoot out the window, knowing I’d be dead if I fought or not. I aim towards the ground first and kill a few people. I then reload and start to aim at the helicopter, squating so the ground men can’t shoot me. I aim for the back rotor and hit it. As it spins out of control, it lands on the barricade of cars that were blocking any room for escape. Then, an explosion from the crashed helicopter made a hole in the barricade where I can escape. As I peek around the corner, I see more cars coming, knowing I have to escape now to have a chance to survive. I got into the corvette that I stole and floored it, breaking the barn doors while I shoot my gun and drive to the opening. They shoot out my tires in that short time and I swerve the car left, my back to the opening. I then get out and take cover behind it. I reload my gun with my last two clips. The cars that were approaching the barn are now behind me, closing the exit. There are no dead bodies around me that I can take ammo from or even use their guns. Tears streaming from my face again, I know getting to Mexico is a lost cause. I stand up and start shooting and running around the car and charge the barricade away from the blocked opening. I get shot in the calf and go down, but still run towards the men. I then started getting

I got up after all the zombies were “dead”, because they cannot be any deader than they already were, and looked around for the shooter. I did not see anyone with a gun, until I noticed Steven standing in the doorway of the store with a machine gun. He was shaking when I ran up to him, “My daddy taught me how shoot” he stuttered. I hugged him tightly and then walked him to the car. Where we then drove out of the city and towards the woods, eventually we came upon a deserted camp ground.…

I was on my way home from CookOut when I got the call saying he was dead. My heart dropped and I swore they were lying and that he was fine and probably just playing a cruel joke. When I got home and started to scroll down Twitter and kept seeing "RIP Crick" or "Long Live Thomas" I felt my heart break and began to cry. I remember when we had American History II together and our class talked about the dangers of street racing and how it could kill you. His death had a huge impact not only on me but the whole city.…
