Korey's Story Essay: Masked Murderer

Improved Essays
It was a warm summer night in North Dakota, So Korey decided to go for a walk in the forest near his house. The trees looked menacing and mysterious with their branches hanging over the pathway. He kept walking as the sun set and the moon began to peek over the horizon; it was a full moon which illuminated the entire surrounding area. The stars were starting to shine. He realized that the only thing he brought with him was a newspaper from earlier that day. The headline said “Masked Murderer escapes prison on June 28th and might be hiding in any nearby locations,” That was only two days ago, he thought. As he was walking, he heard a rustling of leaves which startled him after remembering that article, then he heard trickling water which was …show more content…
Carefully he pretended not to hear anything and started to walk just a little faster and when he looked behind him he saw the shine of light on metal very briefly before the object disappeared behind the trees. He quickly walked away from the path towards the sound of water which was now deafening. A lot of people want to blame the parents of the offenders, asking “what did you turn your child into?” 36% of serial killers were physically abused, 26% were sexually abused, and 50% were psychologically abused (Mitchell and Aamodt 45). Many people have logically come to the conclusion that just because someone is abused, it does not mean that they will become a serial killer; or even a murderer; which is true. In the general population (people who have never committed murder) only 6% are physically abused, 3% are sexually abused, and 2% are psychologically abused (Mitchell and Aamodt 45). The dramatic difference of abuse frequency between people who are serial killers and people who are not seems evident enough to support that serial killers are created.…

In Cold Blood Timed Essay In the novel, In Cold Blood,by Truman Capote, an intense murder story unfolds through the perspective of both the victims and murderers. One of the murderers, Perry Smith, seems to hold in more than what one man can handle, which leads to the murders of the Clutter family: Nancy, Bonnie, Herb and Kenyon. Although Perry Smith’s action seems evil or immoral if taken at face value, Capote’s full presentation of his past circumstances and psychiatric analysis makes the reader react more sympathetically than they otherwise would.…

The three of us, being willed on by the attentive, watching eyes of our peers, went into the house to find a spot to sleep for the night. It was around eight o’clock, and the last glimpses of brilliant orange and pink light were beginning to fade into a star filled canvas. We first chose to explore the large, three story home, and then later choose a place to rest. I, against my will, was leading the pack because I had the flashlight. We walked towards the back of the house with the boards screeching and bending under our feet.…

The neighborhood was noiseless, and the sky was pitch black, for there had been no moon on that summer morning in June. My mother and father started our car and waited for Sofia,my sister, sean ,my friend, and me to get inside. It was time to leave our dull suburban home in San Jose, and drive to the beloved National Park, Yosemite, to hike Half Dome. On the car ride there I had slept, but awoke right when we had gotten into the Sierra Nevada Mountains. Looking outside of the window and noticing all of the evergreen trees was surreal for me, as I rolled down my window a strong smell of pine and fresh air poured into the car.…

There were many complications present when the war ended; Germans found themselves questioned politically and mentally by their own compatriots, as well as outsiders. Throughout Albert Camus’s The Stranger, women characters are not portrayed as important because of who they are, but because of what outcomes they allow Camus to create within the novel. The three significant women characters present in the novel include Meursault's mother, Marie, and Raymond’s girlfriend. With each of these women, it can been seen that they personally are not essential to the story, but the actions they produce are vital to the stories meaning. The portrayal of women as insignificant contributes to the ultimate purpose of the novel, which is that the world and the people who inhabit it are insignificant. Furthermore, the unimportance of the female characters helps the reader concentrate on the intended focus of the novel,…
