• The overall aim for the appraisal system should be to increase the employee’s efficiency and productivity.
• The sources of taking feedback for employee’s performance should be reliable and no personal judgments should be linked with the rewards and feedbacks.
Conclusion
It is concluded that performance appraisal system is an effective tool for Tata Motors and its effectiveness is quite satisfactory to evaluate employee’s performance and increasing their productivity. The appraisals in the company have helped the employees of Tata Motors to enhance their performance and career development, thus meeting organisational goals. The performance appraisal system is a powerful tool for management which helps them to monitor employee’s actual performance with the set standards and delegating responsibilities to achieve the organisational goals. Staff appraisals have helped the management to plan training and development programs for their employees. At Tata Motors, the management is following 90 degree appraisal system where the feedback is considered from the employee’s immediate co-workers. In 360 degree appraisal system, feedback is taken from all sources including employee’s self assessment, colleagues, subordinates and seniors. Sometimes, feedback from external sources like suppliers and customers are also taken.
