A physicist who holds a bachelor of science from Cornell University and a master of science from the University of California, Los Angeles, Mark Thek has served as president of Los Angeles’ Esterline Power Systems since 1995. Outside of the professional environment, he fosters hobbies that range from snowboarding to reading classic science fiction. Mark Thek is also the nephew of the late artist Paul Thek.

An American artist who came to prominence in the 1960s, Paul Thek bucked the artistic trends that were prevalent among his contemporaries by producing hyper-realistic images of raw and bloody meat from beeswax. He subsequently relocated to Europe, where he became one of the first artists to create installations. These
