Have you ever know a person who changed their whole lifestyle and personality in a blink of an eye? Well, that is how Jimmy Valentine became Ralph Spencer in 24 hours. Jimmy Valentine, a crook with many connections, got out of jail 38 months earlier. Valentine headed down to a small town by Elmore Arkansas where he changed every little piece of his burglary self within a day; including changing his name to Ralph Spencer. Then within a year Ralph was about to marry a daughter of a rich banker. Is it possible that Jimmy truly changed himself, or was it just all a lie. Because Jimmy Valentine was dedicated to a moral life he got a fresh start, planned on getting married, and planned on selling his burglary tools.

Others might think Valentine did not change because he stole over $7,000 within 3 weeks of being released from jail. Jimmy was only out of jail for one week when he stole more than $800. The reason Jimmy stole the $7,300 was to pay for his travel and life in Elmore Arkansas. Jimmy would need plenty of money to pay get a fresh start; but more importantly for his shoe store. Valentine could not start a business with no money. Another reason people might think Jimmy was not dedicated to a moral life because he did not give away burglary tools. They think Jimmy kept them to burglarize more places again. But Jimmy kept the tools because he saved a kid's life with them. If Jimmy had already given the tools away the child would have died. Jimmy realized that he can do good with the tools instead of rob places. A last reason why Jimmy may have not been fully dedicated to a moral life is because his engagement was a whole lie. Jimmy found out that Annabel Adams father owned a bank and that was his way to get richer. It would be very sly of Jimmy to just marry someone for their parents money. And Jimmy only had two weeks till he got married. That takes commitment to be engaged for a while. Jimmy changed for the good because he got welcomed and close with Annabels family. He even saved his future niece. If Valentine did not love Annabel Adams he would not have saved the little girl.
