I have recently been doing some research and would love to share my knowledge with you. The Council of Jerusalem and Paul/Saul has been my main topic of learning this term. For my assessment I have chosen to go deeper into the knowledge of Saint Paul. Saint Paul was born in AD 8. This was roughly the same time as Jesus Christ. He was then known as Saul and he was a Jew. In AD 21 at the age of 12 or 13 Paul was educated by Rabbi Gamaliel in Jerusalem. Paul had despised Christians and watched over as people killed innocent Christians. In AD 32 or 36 on the road to Damascus Paul had his conversion. He was traveling to a small city and had a vision. There was a bright light as Paul had fallen off his donkey. In the bright light Paul said he saw …show more content…
He had departed from Antioch and travelled to Seleucia, Cyprus, Salamis, Pergo, Antioch of Pisidia, Conium, Lustra, Debra, returned to Antioch (of Syria). In AD 49 the Council of Jerusalem had begun. The Council of Jerusalem had been created because of one question that changed Judaism and Christianity. They were debating about whether you would have to become Jewish before you become Christian or can you begin with following Christianity. The decision that they have made was that you can become Christian without a conversion from Judaism. Saint Paul had a high position in the Council of Jerusalem, which meant that he had a large say on the decisions made. In AD 53-58 Paul had his third missionary journey and returned from Antioch to Asia and Greece, went through regions of Galatia and Phygia, returned to Ephesus where he stayed 2 years lecturing in synagogues & the hall of Tyrannous, later travelled to Macedonia and Greece, then Taros where Paul raises Eutyches from the dead, then Assos and then on to Mytilene, Chios, Samos and then arrived in Miletus, travelled from Tyra to Ptolema then Caesarea and Jerusalem which was the final destination of his missionary

“Letter from Birmingham Jail”: King’s Stand Against Social Injustice In “Letter from Birmingham Jail,” Martin Luther King Jr.’s use of biblical references served its purpose in making the clergymen realize the injustice they were really exhibiting. They may have claimed that King and his protestors were actually doing the morally wrong thing in their nonviolent protest that, according to them, instigated violence, but they were simply turning a blind eye from the truth of their actions. Since the receivers of King’s letter, as well as King himself, were all ministers, he frequently references biblical characters and stories because of how deeply rooted the Bible is in their professions and much of an impact it makes in driving the main point. One of the first things King addresses is how he was not as unwanted and undeserving of being in Birmingham as the eight clergymen had originally…
