My summer started off fantastic, I was sleeping in, I was hanging with my fiends, I was helping my dad on the farm and, and playing baseball. I wasn't really worried about school, I was more worried about football. Everyone was telling me that the first 2 weeks of football were going to suck, they were saying that we were going to have to condition a lot. The main thing everyone was talking about was that we had to lift a tone. I kept thinking to myself, why am I doing this, than it hit me, I have to be doing it for a reason, if there wasn't a reason I wouldn't be doing it.…

When there were gloomy days, I felt like broken glass that was scattered all over the ground and I wouldn’t be fixable. So I thought if I joined a sport, I would then, have no choice but to believe that I can do more and accomplish more, and be better than whom I was! When I was little I loved to run…

It wasn't until we began our drive back home that we became fully aware of how sore we really were. There is no sugar coating the struggles of the Appalachian Trail, nor any adequate description for how fantastic it is. I agreed to go though still having doubts about the ride. On the ride down we charged at maximum velocity towards an icy rock. We narrowly avoided the rock but unfortunately, Henry lost control of the toboggan as he turned a sharp right to avoid the rock and plummeted towards another toboggan and flipped over it, landing upside down on the ground. Thirty minutes later, the paramedics arrived with a stretcher and examined my injuries and addressed my parents to tell them about my severe injuries in the nasal part of my face as I laid helplessly on the frigid ground, which felt like concrete with spikes integrated inside. The paramedics applied first aids on my injuries and carried me on a stretcher back to the ambulance and delivered me to the hospital.…

“You can start whenever you’re ready” The boy looked down at his pale, shaking hands, then up at the ceiling. Anywhere except for the man with the clipboard in front of him. They had told him that if he came here, they would leave him alone. My vision started to fail on mile four of the six-mile hike. Small white specks flickered across my field of vision. The next thing to go was my hearing, followed by my ability to walk in a straight line. My platoon sergeant saw the signs of heat stroke and forced me to stop. I should have stopped myself, but all I could think was: you will finish this, or you will die trying.…

The people of this world lack many things but an open mind single handedly tops the list. I simply cannot stand close minded people that have obviously been brainwashed and programmed for generations to believe the most ridiculous ideas. What infuriates me more is fact that a few of these folks will enter positions of power varying from teaching to political office. Now with a massive set of listening ears can these pests spread or attempt to spread the most repulsive ideas and ways of life. The best track to an open mind begins with quality education presented without bias and room for discussion.…
