This report is compiled from information based on the North Ward area. North Ward is a Suburb in the Coastal city of Townsville, North Queensland, Australia. North Ward dates to the 1870’s and Is one of Townsville’s oldest suburbs. Over the past ten years many apartments and homes have been built and because of this, the population has grown. North Ward has twelve heritage listings including St Joseph’s church. To collate information for this report I had to use a variety of primary and secondary resources were used including observations, statistics, and maps. Upon further examination I found that there were multiple services and facilities that should be improved, these include that there should be free parking in the city and more bus stops

There are other facilities such as home wear shops and banks, there are not very many. There are facilities in the area but much more could be added or improved to increase the liability in the area. The current population of North Ward is 5065 according to the 2016 Census. Liveability can be defined as the factors that affect a community’s quality of life. Some of the factors that affect the liveability of North Ward include that there are schools close by so children go somewhere close to home, The Strand affects the liveability, people may want beautiful views or somewhere to walk. There are many job opportunities in the city which is very close to North Ward. There is a beautiful environment and hardly any crime, but North Ward is near the coastline, so they are at risk of cyclones and floods. Two services that can be improved are that there should be free parking in the city and the council should invest to make more bus stops and more paths specifically for bikes. When free parking is introduced it will not affect all age groups but instead only those that can drive. It will not have any negative effects on other age groups. It will Negatively affect the council in the beginning but over time they may benefit. Free parking will also benefit surrounding services because more customers will come since they do not need to worry about paying for parking even just for five minutes. The Environment will not be harmed in any way because were the machines are where you need to pay are near buildings and not plants. Implementing more bus stops will positively affect locals of all ages. Bus services will benefit because more people will take the bus benefitting them by gaining them more money. Environmentally the construction of the bus stops would affect them negatively but after a few months, there may be fewer cars on the road due to more people taking the bus. By introducing these two services it can improve the liveability in the North Ward area.
To summarise by investing in free parking so locals can go to the nearest shop instead of going somewhere where you don’t have to pay, more bus stops so then you don’t have to walk a long time to get on a bus and it becomes the easiest way to get around. By implementing these services, it will improve the liveability of the North Ward area and influence more people to look for somewhere to live because they will find
