Act three happens in the fictional Municipal Theatre in Stockton-on-Tees, at the end of their ten week run. Noises Off is a play that goes behind the scenes of a play called Nothing On. The show has on the outside two love triangles and a lot of things get lost in communication; the play is showing you what it’s like to be an actor, and what really happens backstage. The plot focuses on these main characters and what’s going on in their personal lives, while their trying to do this play together. Lloyd Dallas is the director of the play, inside the play, he is dating Brooke the clumsy, inexperienced actress, but accidentally makes it look like he is cheating on Brooke with Poppy the stage assistant, and Brookes understudy (Triangle number one). Dottie is a forgetful actress who is dating Garry the actor with the speech impediment, but flirts with Freddy who gets grossed out by blood and violence, and is a dim-witted person. Some of the obstacles with in the play are the fact that was designed to look like it is actually being shown on stage as, well, as off stage. There is a lot of props in this play. The acts are all in different places. There are two-story lines going simultaneously with a corresponding character, or more for both storylines. The characters are different on stage as compared to when they’re on stage, for example the actor with the speech impediment Garry doesn’t exhibit this trait when he is acting on stage. There are multiple people on the set at a time doing all different things, like opening, and closing the doors. This would be hard to make look, and sound realistic locally. There are character that play more than one other character in the play inside the one you are doing. Again there are a lot of props, and costume changes to consider. The basics of the set would be a job in its own right, plus it would probably cost a decent amount if you wanted it to look, and feel real to the audience, and the actors. They also use a lot of British terminology, which might make parts of the play hard to understand at
