Is America witnessing the end of internet privacy? There are countless reasons why anyone would want to protect their privacy, but the single most important principle is that we have a right to privacy. Seeking privacy on the internet should not make the user feel guilty, the user’s privacy should be expected, and demanded. The reasons might be as simple as preserving your right to express unpopular opinions without being subjected to persecution, communicating sensitive business information, or conducting transactions on internet shopping sites. Privacy belongs to us, contrary to what some governing bodies might want the public to believe. In this digitally connected world we need to step back and look at how much information we share and what steps we could do to stop this invasion of our privacy.
