Do you enjoy the freedom of doing what you want, not being judged? The article, “Could you Become a Mean Meme” by Kristin Lewis Discusses how anything you post can be seen by almost everyone, even if you have privacy settings set to only your friends seeing it. Two more articles, “How Private is Your Private Life” by Andrea Rock, and “The Privacy Debate” by Arthur M. Ahalt state that no matter what you are doing, whether it's going out to eat or your online looking for a recipe, you are always giving out personal information to strangers. With this in mind, we can take a look at how the internet has both a positive and negative impact. “Today, many aspects of our lives take place digitally..” States Kristin Lewis. This can be negative for some since anything we post online can get out of our control and affect us. Consider the fact that you're going on a job interview and you posted a negative comment on your friends post. If your employer finds it, they may decide not to hire you, just because of something you said a month or two ago. Privacy settings can allow you to control who sees your posts and photos, though in chats, these privacy settings cannot protect your info. If you send a photo or private info, then decide to delete it, there is already a chance they have seen it and or took a screenshot. Screenshots are something you don’t want to happen.(Kristin) It creates a higher risk of your information getting out of your control. Before sending something in a group chat or on a post, ask yourselves these two simple questions. “ If I send this, would I feel comfortable with more people then I want seeing this?” and “Would I want my grandmother to see this?.” If either of those questions is responded with a ‘no’ then it is wise not to post it, in risk of it
