As you know video game time that is tamed efficiently is quite beneficial. In order to build a good and tamed relationship with video games, you have to start early. Therefore, these are some tips so you can have your children experience video games in a healthy way. The first tip is to pay attention to ESRB Ratings, they are there for a reason. Now if you do not know what these are, well then they are just like movie ratings, they give a general consensus on what that age group that game is best suited for. Rated E games are games everyone can play, rated T means its best suited for people 13 years and older, and Rated M is for mature audiences which means you should be 17 years or older in order to play that game. Those three ratings are the main Ratings there are, a few more exist but those are situational. These ratings are important, however, just like movie ratings they are there as guides. Ultimately it is up to you whether your child should play that game. While its recommended you wait until your child is older to introduce them to rated M and sometimes rated T games, it is really just up to when you believe your child is mentally ready to handle the themes introduced in these M and T rated games. While this is hard to do there are ways to make this easier. In the back of the game box next to rating, it explains why it is rated what it is, whether it be violence, nudity, gore, or adult topics. You can use that to determine if your child is ready to handle such themes. The other way to determine if your child should play a game is to do one the following. You can play the game yourself before letting your child play it, you can research it online see what other parents have to say about it, you can watch gameplay of it online, you can ask other people who have played it and finally you can ask one of the store

It is proven that if you don’t use a skill that you will lose the ability to do it satisfyingly. In addition to the serious brain damage video game players can undergo, they could have very severe health issues such as thinning bones. This happens because the kids aren’t very active and are playing video games instead of playing outside with their…

McLuhan states that, “Our conventional response to all media, namely that is how they are used that counts, is the numb stance of the technological idiot. For the ‘content’ of a medium is like the juicy piece of meat carried by the burglar to distract the watchdog of the mind.” People are susceptible to everything they see and hear. They will believe and do almost anything the media tells them to. +Using the foundation of McLuhan’s essay “The Medium is the Message,” one can see how certain mediums affect our reactions through daily encounters.…

The ESRB (Entertainment Software Rating Board) rates games based on their content and assigns games with a compressive rating that ranges from “Early Childhood” to “Adults only.” And with these ratings many retailers prevent underage kids form buying a rated “M” (Mature) game without parents’ permission. In conclusion I believe if violence and aggression is tied to video games we need more thorough studies done to prove this claim. Also if this is the case the system we have in place puts the responsibility on the parent to choose what their child is exposed…

Just because the video game is rated M for mature, does not mean an eight year old or even an eighteen year old is mature enough to play that particular game. The newer video games that are being produced should not influence people to engage in criminal or violent activity, but rather…
