It is unnecessary to offer arguments in recommendation of a measure, on which the honor, safety and well-being of our Country so evidently and so essentially depend: But it may not be amiss to observe that I am particularly anxious, it should receive as early attention as circumstances will admit; because it is now in our power to avail ourselves of the military knowledge disseminated throughout the several States, by means of the many well instructed Officers and Soldiers of the late Army; a resource which is daily diminishing by deaths and other causes. Just last week, North Korea revealed their nuclear power to the world. If they wanted too, they could send nuclear missiles to the pacific coast, striking United States territory (Rademaker). This is a the time that the United States need military funding and overseas involvement the most. Though North Korea has been a nuclear threat for over twenty five years, North Korea wasn’t able to prove that these were legitimate threat (Rademaker). We have other, expensive alternatives that will heavily involve military action and may be controversial to some. As an alternative, the United States should be prepared to return its own tactical nuclear weapons to the Korean Peninsula. The withdrawal of those weapons was announced by President George H.W. Bush in 1991 as North and South Korea were finalizing an agreement to denuclearize the peninsula. North Korea has never respected that agreement, so we need not defer to it, either.
