What should the world do about the North Korean situation?

More than 1.2 million people died in the Korean War. Now, over 60 years later, both North and South Korea have rebuilt and become more developed. Even so, the North remains hostile to the South and has threatened nuclear attacks on more than one occasion. While it seems logical to fight fire with fire and have the South develop nuclear weapons, this is not the best solution for the long-term stability of the peninsula. Therefore South Korea should develop nuclear weapons. The main reasons are South Korea can start the South and North in to a deadly war as well as U.S. should stay in charge of nuclear weapons. One factor why South Korea shouldn’t make nuclear weapon is that they can launch the South and North into a world war 3. The North is aggressive because they’re afraid of South Korea. They create conflicts to show their power. How will the North respond to Korea making nuclear weapons? They will against North to stop them from making atomic bomb. For instance, North Korea have a offensive attacks like yeungpyeongdo artillery attacks, and changanham submarine torpedo attack to South Korea navy ship. We can see in this

I think that we should live together in peace and harmony. As for the other countries, they should stop North Korea from taking any serious actions. The North Korean government want to deal with the other countries, so we should do anything reasonably possible to stop this war. Most countries would back out of this war, because the economy is bad and participating in a war right now would be ridiculous. However they have to help us stop North Korea if they are serious about this proclamation. As I’ve said before, the only countries that are going to get harmed from this war are North Korea and us, so we have to let the north Korean government know that, and stop them from proceeding with their

While North Korea is an isolated country with many economic problems. North Korea is to be a major threat to the world as stated in a CIA report, “North Korea 's history of regional military provocations; proliferation of military-related items; long-range missile development; WMD programs including tests of nuclear devices in 2006, 2009, and 2013; and massive conventional armed forces are of major concern to the international community.” (Unknown, The World Factbook, 2015) The United States and the rest of the world seems to stay curious about North Korea and their secret capabilities. It is hard to understand a country and their culture if that country refuses to share and relate to the rest of the world. Until North Korea opens up and shares its culture to the world, we shall never know. You cannot believe what a dictator leader tells the world about its country, the only way to find out is to talk to and observe from the people…

In his article for the Associated Press, Eric Talmadge focuses on an educated analysis regarding the goals and desires of the North Korean regime by underlining their need to stay in power and obtain the respect of the world leaders. It’s Talmadge’s view that North Korea will never willingly abandon their goal of nuclear weapons because the ruling cadre sees it as the only path to survival and recognition. The premise is that North Korea is willing to risk the ire of their lone ally, China, the anger of the United Nations, and the very lives of their population in order to maintain their control over the country. Using the recent detonation of a nuclear device, Talmadge outlines how North Korea is demonstrating their abilities to the world…

The world is becoming bipolar again as China’s economy and military might continue to rise. (Hook 9) Therefore, the United States should tread carefully in order to avoid exposing itself to weaknesses in how it approaches foreign policy under Donald Trump. The greatest issue in foreign policy today which threatens US supremacy in the world is how we should react to the threat North Korea poses with its possession of ICBMs and other weapons capable of mass destruction. On one hand, the crusader will charge and face the threat, but will ignore critical factors like the possibly of blowback from Russia and China while the pragmatist will search for the best avenue of success, but that will simply delay our response to North Korea whose leader, Kim Jong Un, is unpredictable. It is important for Donald Trump to make careful considerations in this situation as he does not want to risk starting World War III or allowing other countries to perceive the United States as a weak superpower due to its lackadaisical response to North…

    Pros And Cons Of Nukes

Nukes have prevented more major wars and battlefield deaths since World War 2. “Since Aug. 9, 1945, approximately 7 million to 10 million people have died from conflict. Before the introduction of nuclear weapons, two world wars alone led to the deaths of 70 million to 100 million — a difference of a decimal point” (Spalding). So in about a 70 year period 90% less people died in war than in about a 30 year period. Also according to Kenneth Waltz, one of the world’s most respected scholars in international relations, before nukes, the great powers of the world often settled conflict with a full fledged war, but now there are more diplomatic negotiations. But of course, some people argue that a world with nuclear weapons would lead to World War 3. And if the last war was any indication, the US would need a tremendous one up against the enemy in order to prevail again. A big thing in the last World War though, was the unruly civilian deaths. But according to Stratfor Global Intelligence, low yield nuclear weapons exist and if the conflict comes to a stage of requiring nukes, these low yield weapons will solely hit the target and minimize civilian death. It would not be as fatal as Hiroshima. Also, no country wants to initiate a World War 3 like conflict because of the possible outcomes. As long as the US is in possession of nuclear weapons…

    Causes Of The Korean War

There are already tensions between the USSR and the U.S.., and between China and the U.S.. The USSR and the U.S. are the superpowers in this war, and they both have nuclear weapons. China full out doesn 't trust the U.S., because the U.S. backed their opposition in the Chinese civil war. Thus, when it looks like North Korea is about to fall the the U.S., China feels the need to intervene due to the fear of invasion. This is a valid fear as China is a communist country, and the U.S. is anti-communism. China intervening is also justified due to the fact that they had warned the UN not to cross the 38th parallel. However justified China 's intervention, the fact remains that this could have triggered a third would war. Prior to China 's intervention, the war appeared to be turning out in the favor of the U.S.. Shortly after China intervened, it looked more like the U.S. would lose. This is the first event that could have triggered the third world war. It is within reason to believe that the U.S. could have dropped a nuclear bomb on North Korea as this would have ended the war and prevented the U.S. from further losses. No bomb was dropped however, and U.S. recovered from the initial shock of the Chinese army. In fact, the U.S. eventually managed to drive the Chinese and North Korean armies, above the 38th, where the two sides fell into a stalemate. This is perhaps when a third world war looked imminent. Much like Japan at the end of World War II, the North Korean army had been driven back into their own territory, yet refused to surrender. They could not come to a peaceful agreement, and the U.S. dropping a bomb on North Korea would have the same effect as it had on Japan at the end of World War II. However, instead of ending a war, it would have started one. The USSR also has nuclear weapons, and if the U.S. were to drop a bomb, the USSR would retaliate, causing a third world war potentially ending the human…

The United States must decide if they should act on the threats. I believe the US should go to war with North Korea for the better of the world. I think that the actions taking place in North Korea are morally wrong, and it must be stopped. Although the war may not be peaceful, it would have a positive impact on all surrounding countries.

The large amount of nuclear weapons are of concern for the international community, as they can be used to threaten countries and innocent civilians, posing a threat to global peace. If North Korea feels threatened, they can launch their nuclear weapons and potentially instigate a nuclear war. Although the economic sanctions enforced by the international community have been successful in the short-term, it is not a long-term resolution that will restrict North Korea from developing more nuclear weapons. In particular, the recent missile headed towards Japan has acted as a threat to America and Japan and has shown the international community the progression of North Korean’s nuclear weapons and the capabilities of North…

A lot of people speculate that North Korea wants this attention, because since they know every time they show off a new weapon or make a new threat. They could be using the media to show themselves off to make their country look stronger and more powerful, as they boast about their new technological advances in weaponry and they often make big demanding threats to neighboring countries such as South Korea and Japan, and this makes them look like a powerful country. We also know that there is massive amounts of propaganda in North Korea and it has gone to the most where most of their citizens are “brainwashed” as they view their supreme leader Kim Jong-un as a god rather than a man. They also believe that he can do no wrong, so they follow Kim Jong-un’s orders without question, so they would have offered no real opposition against building the hydrogen bomb in the first…

Nearly 5-million people died, more than half of these-about 10 percent of Korea’s pre-war population-were civilians. Almost 40,000 Americans died, more than 100,000 were wounded. Even though an armistice was signed, there was no official peace treaty; technically the Korean War hasn’t ended. Soldiers on both sides patrol the DMZ, and there are constant problems and skirmishes on the DMZ. At any moment, North Korea could launch a nuclear warhead on South Korea. The UN needs to step in and put sanctions on North Korea and enforce them to keep North Korea from building more nuclear weapons.…
