I am truly honored as being a nominee for the Easton Chapter National Honor Society. The standards that must be proven to be nominated by this prestigious society are an example of the hard work and dedication I have exemplified in school. Throughout my years of schooling, I have tried my hardest to get good grades, while also demonstrating the characteristics that make up the National Honor Society; they are leadership, service, and character. While I have exhibited all three throughout my educational career, I feel that my service characteristic stands out above the rest.
Service can mean many things, but to me, it means helping someone perform a task they can’t complete themselves, sacrificing your time, and assisting the less fortunate. Service has always been a big part of my life. I have always been involved in my church’s youth group, the Pioneers of Mary. The Pioneers are always doing acts of service, and I love getting involved to help others. Last Christmas, the group and I went caroling to some lonely elders in a nursing home. I know that my time with the senior citizens gave them some Christmas joy and made them feel very happy. This, in turn, made me very happy. I love helping people in need, and the Pioneers of Mary group gives me many great opportunities to do that.

I have a very busy schedule ,and I must make good use of my time to finish what needs to be done. With school, homework, sports, clubs, work, and spending time with family, time management is very important and must be used accordingly. Sacrificing my time to serve others makes service that much more satisfying. Even the smallest things one does can make a person very pleased. In June of 2015, I volunteered my time to wash cars for free at Easton Area High School. Just by washing someone’s car can make their day. Helping others out is what service is all about, and that’s what I try to do on a daily

The National Honor Society is an organization that acknowledges and congratulates students with high educational standings and certain characteristics. NHS looks for people with traits such as leadership, people who are outgoing in their community, and people with a great quality of character. If I am selected to be in this group, I would contribute to the growth of NHS by spreading information about what NHS is to other students and teachers. Before I got this application, I didn’t even know what NHS was and what you do once you are in it. I want other people to know the importance of this group and how it can look good not just for when you apply to colleges, but to yourself as well.…

Growth is something that you can see over time, I know I have seen it as I graduated high school and attended college. This required me to schedule people to work at the blood drive and to call people asking if they are willing to donate. Another one is a service project for National Honor Society. Twice a year we pick up trash along a specified section of highway.…
