Why Is Integrity Important To You

Exemplifying integrity, service, and growth is done in different ways depending on who sees our efforts. For me I integrity can be seen at school or towards family just to name a few. Service I consider to be slightly more challenging, but I think of service as aiding our family, friends, and community. Growth is something that you can see over time, I know I have seen it as I graduated high school and attended college.
Integrity is one of the many characteristics that I believe are very important. Being honest in all aspects of your life can be hard and maybe not get you to where you wanted to be, but keeping integrity can bring greater rewards. I exemplify this value in various aspects of my life. For example, with my family they trust that I make the right choices while I am away in college, and the reason they trust me is because they have seen I am honest throughout my life. There is also integrity in the education level, this ranges from being a fair teacher assistant to not cheating on a test. We can serve many people in different way, and maybe not by always doing favors for others. For my family, yes I can take out trash, help clean, but I can always be there to listen how their day went or how they feel. I know I try my best to aid my mom and dad when their sick, and just be there for them and show how I care. In a more physical way I know I’ve helped my dad install floor or task that sounds tedious, but can turn to a fun experience where it no longer feels like you are serving them. In my college there is multiple ways of serving, through clubs, or participating in events that determine the future of my campus. There is so much to get involved in college. For example, I have been able to help my archery instructor by handing out the equipment. Service is a value that sometime we don’t realize we are

Many people mistake the word “integrity” to hold the same weight as the word “honesty;” however, Oxford Dictionary defines integrity as: “the quality of being honest and having strong moral principles.” Therefore, we can conclude that being honest is only a part of having integrity, so just because someone says what he or she means, doesn’t mean that this person has integrity. In “The Insufficiency of Honesty,” Stephen L. Carter discusses the misconception that many people have about the difference between honesty and integrity by presenting examples of how people that are completely honest lack a sense of moral behavior. Through a clearly reasoned discussion, Carter raises some insightful points about how honesty alone cannot make someone or some action morally correct.…

I show leadership, service, or scholarship character every day at school and home with all my sisters. But there are many events, where I show service more. For example, I help Ms. Soto with the PTA meetings that the school has, I also take care of her son Aaron whenever she has an important meeting to attend. I'm willing to give up my personal time to take care of Aaron because I feel like if I see anyone needing to help I should to help them in any way I can. It's something inside of me that wakes up and tells me " go help ", " they need your help, go to see what you can do."…

As a volunteer I take kids to the bathroom, and cheek kids into the class, help set up games, get materials for the teacher, and take care of kids on the playground. First, I like to think I'm a genuinely honest person. From a very young age, my parents always told me that if I lied, the secret would eventually come out, which helped instill some fear that prevented me from lying. Although it's hard at times, I always try to tell the truth because I know that either the guilt I'll feel from lying will tear me apart, or I'll just get into more trouble if I'm caught. I also tend to act with integrity in all the situations I can. I was taught to do the right thing or else face consequences, so I've continued to try to live up to that as I've grown older.…
