We become blind to the pain that our neighbors are suffering with, and how miniscule our adversity is compared to others. It has become a common theme in thinking that success in life comes from acquiring wealth and have a high social status. This is why many don’t take the time and effort to serve their neighbors. They don’t realize that helping others doesn’t only benefit the recipient, but also the giver. In my own life, I’ve learned that making others gives me a warm, fulfilling feeling inside. Seeing the smile on another’s face feels much better than getting a new high score in a game or making money. Just a week ago I helped my wrestling coach move into his new house. Initially, the task seemed very monotonous and tedious. It was very hard work, but the outcome made it all worth it. Seeing how grateful and happy my coach was made me feel proud. It inspired me to give to others more, in order to recieve this same gratitude. Like shown the Volunteer cartoon, volunteering leaves people with a great aftertaste! Without service being required, some people would push it off as being unimportant or monotonous. Once a person has volunteered, they will experience this the two way benefits of serving another. The feeling recieved from making someone else feel important and comforted is unlike anything else. As easy as it is today, all people should be required to take part in these growing actions. By helping others, people will find their own spiritual growth and come to make some new friends! The idea of making service mandatory isn’t enough, though, since sometimes it can be difficult to find opportunities that people are comfortable with. In the Good Name of Community Service expressed how today people can join school service clubs or local organizations that have no minimum hours or mandatory attendance. Groups like these allow people to decide when they want to help out and choose tasks that they’re comfortable with. By making service mandatory for people, I believe that it will grow people into no longer needing this requirement. People will no longer have to be forced to service, as they will be inspired and grow a desire in helping others. Simply put, service has benefits for all involved, so why not take part in
