Decision Making Process
The decision to go back to college and obtain my degree was made when I realized that I could not advance any further with my career without a degree. My goals were not obtainable without an Associate’s Degree in Accounting. I had set the goal to take the CPA exam, and to become an Enrolled Agent within three years. This was the first stage in the decision making process. I had identified and diagnosed my problem. I had to then weigh my options.
The second stage was to generate alternative solutions to my problem. I had many choices. I could stay in the position that I currently held, knowing there was not going to be an opportunity to advance. I could change my work field completely, and start over in a new field. I researched many different schools. I did not want to go to a traditional college because my work and personal schedule would not allow me to sit in class on the available times. From my research, I decided that an online school would work best. I had to find a school that would meet all my requirements.
