Special Education.
My lifetime goal is simple; to positively impact the lives of those who need it most. The last 2-3 years have further confirmed this desire as I began my real-world experience in the special education field. Being a peer assistant for students with disabilities taught me how to communicate with nonverbal students, how to be patient when the student is learning something and to be optimistic when working with the student. Being that all but a few members of my family did not attend college, my decision to go to a 4 year university was one that i had very little background information on. Although both my parents did go to college as first generation students, there was still a gap of knowledge concerning the specific of my major. As the first women in my family setting out to pursue a career in teaching, I've had to trail blaze my own path in this career because of it that has been full of many ups and downs due to it.With their help and my dedication I am where I am today. I definitely found the classes more rigorous than those in high school. Some classes, although challenging, were easier for me to acclimate to, whereas classes such as business math and chemistry were classes that I personally struggled with much more After this first year of trial and error, but most of all success, I feel prepared for the following years of college I have ahead of
