My lifetime goal is simple; to positively impact the lives of those who need it most. The last 2-3 years have further confirmed this desire as I began my real-world experience in the special education field. My junior year in high school, I became a student mentor in our campus’s peer counseling program. This was an incredibly rewarding experience as I had the opportunity to help freshman students assimilate into our high school dynamic. As a peer mentor, I assisted students with personal problems and mediated issues with teachers in order to maximize their learning experience. I also acted as a role model for my mentees by talking frequently about AP and Honors courses and how to be successful in such programs. The decision to revisit the idea of school nearly took a year of research. Applying at a traditional college was not the route I would be taking. The school, the time and effort, and of course cost ought to work for my family. A couple of the goals that steered the way to continuing my education are graduating with an associate’s degree and also implementing it into a career in Healthcare Administration. I concede that in order for me to pursue my goals I will need to maintain a schedule, ruthlessly track my progress, and retain the technical skills and knowledge needed to move forward with my impending goals.…

Throughout my educational career I have not experienced too many failures or setbacks. That is not to say that subjects have always come naturally to me, but with hard work, time, and energy, I have been able to meet my academic goals in my classes. While my professor was one of the most intelligent professors I have encountered and clearly knew very advanced physics, he seemed to struggle with communicating basic physics concepts to the class. The professor lectured to us, rarely provided visuals or real world examples, and was not open to students having questions or needing extra help.…

That’s up to 89 percent five years earlier, 85 percent a decade earlier and 64 percent in the early 1980s” (Leonhardt). Leonhardt’s point is that the amount of money we secure from a four year degree continues to increase rapidly as the years go by which is advantageous information to those who are unsure about going to college…
