NHS Reflection

According to the official National Honor Society website, NHS serves to “not only recognize students for their accomplishments, but challenge them to develop further through active involvement in school activities and community service.” The paragraph goes on to describe how the students in NHS ideally strive to achieve “excellence in the areas of scholarship, service, leadership, and character.” As an individual hoping to become a member of the society, I interpret this to mean that when one enters NHS, they are not granted the freedom to then be lazy with their grades or lax with their leadership simply because they were deemed suitable for the society at one point. Rather, as a member of the National Honor Society, one becomes a leader on campus and a model of character, while continuing to offer constructivity and inspiration to their community and peers. …show more content…
I recognize that being a part of NHS is a privilege, and if allowed, one I would proudly use to help improve my community and school. I am confident that the possible challenges facing me as part of the National Honor Society would serve only to better me as a student and community member. I strongly believe that as part of a larger group (in this case, a school), individuals should attempt to do everything they can to improve upon pre existing qualities or factors of the group, along with providing new, innovative ideas to add to or enhance what is already
