Ever since I was a little girl, I can recall my parents telling me that I am good with my words. I always considered this a compliment whether it was because of an argument we had, an act of persuasion, them reading a school paper of mine, or even a birthday card. As I sit here and reflect on my experience with writing in my life, I find that I have only truly enjoyed putting my words on paper when they described something that I am passionate for, or heavily interested in. In general, I have thought of writing essays for school as being a largely intimidating task, not because I have trouble with my ideas but because I have trouble organizing my thoughts to flow well. To be honest, when I found out that I would not be able to exempt English …show more content…
I received a higher grade on this piece than on my poem analysis paper and I believe that this can be attributed to not only the fact that I learned from my mistakes in the first paper, but also because I have always been heavily interested in Hitchcock’s films. Going back on what I stated earlier, I love to write when I am passionate about the topic. I believe that my strengths in this paper were my visual analysis. It was necessary for me to create a strong visual analysis because my entire paper was based on the symbolism of color in the film. The reason I chose to write my entire paper about color is because I noticed the heavy repetition of certain colors in the film on my own. When I first began to draft this paper, I planned to only write a paragraph about colors. However, I soon came to realize that there were too many interesting details in relation to color that I wanted to share and …show more content…
English 1102 has not only assisted me in organizing my writing approaches, but has also helped me improve organization in other aspects of my life. I have learned to manage my time more efficiently by attributing the same planning and outlining techniques to the tasks I complete for other classes. Each piece I chose in addition to my biography and wild card showcase my strengths and improvements as a writer. Although I have always planned for this class to be my final English class, I now feel more inclined to watch myself grow as a writer by experimenting with other writing classes at UGA that offer me the opportunity to write about topics I am truly interested in, just as English 1102 did for

English 1105 has been an important learning experience for me and my writing processes. After a response paper, discussion boards, and formal essays, my writing style and process has changed drastically from how it was prior to this class. Each assignment that was required has shaped me as a writer. The response paper helped me to analyze the content of an argumentative work and put into words how I felt about each aspect. Although not time consuming assignments, the discussion boards have provided opportunities to discuss issues with classmates openly and argumentatively.…

Style Analysis The style of this writing is very important because it is going to set the tone for the piece of writing, if it's going to be a serious piece of writing, a goofy piece of writing, or a informative piece of writing. Describe My Writing

I would describe my writing to be bland and at times melancholy. The majority of writing i've ever produced has been solely education based material such as research papers, etc .I found to be that writing was never a passion i developed. Angry letters, and sad and simple poems are all i have attempted to do on my own and even then i wouldn't consider myself to be an award winning author. I do try my best to use above average vocabulary just to sound formal and professional because i think that's an essential quality one needs to have when it comes to writing something for school, and other things that may come along from the outside world, but other than that, i don't usually try as hard for things like this. Of course none of this signifies…

To be completely honest I have mixed feelings about writing and I don’t really have any memorable experiences that made me feel this way, it is just the experiences that I have had with the subject while trying to apply it. I struggle with what to write down mostly and creativity in general and I don’t really excel at any part of it. If I were to say I “excel” at anything it would be revising my work and adding to it. At the end of the semester I hope that I have relearned some key writing elements that lack of practice has caused me to lose.…

Critical reflection Reflecting back on what I have learnt about myself as a writer is that it is okay to be aware of your weaknesses and using the necessary tools to support and strengthen them. As a writer it is good to step outside of your comfort zone and experiment with new genres. Let your writing take you on an emotional journey, and let your emotions lead your writing into a new journey. As a writer you need to expand your vocabulary and use powerful descriptive words to really create a mental image for your readers. I have learnt to understand the importance of sentence structure, drafting, and proof reading and not over using commas creating sentences that are too long.…
