Ever since I was a little girl, I can recall my parents telling me that I am good with my words. I always considered this a compliment whether it was because of an argument we had, an act of persuasion, them reading a school paper of mine, or even a birthday card. As I sit here and reflect on my experience with writing in my life, I find that I have only truly enjoyed putting my words on paper when they described something that I am passionate for, or heavily interested in. In general, I have thought of writing essays for school as being a largely intimidating task, not because I have trouble with my ideas but because I have trouble organizing my thoughts to flow well. To be honest, when I found out that I would not be able to exempt English 1102 I was frustrated. But now that this class is coming to an end, I am incredibly thankful for the improvements I have made in my writing through techniques I have learned such as proper planning, drafting, revising, and time management. I think that what I gained from the most through this class was the fact that we had to submit outlines and drafts to Emma before our paper was actually due. Since time management and organization have always been struggles of mine, these deadlines helped me to spend more time over a large window to carefully craft each of my writing pieces.
