My Reflection Of The English Writing Class

When entering English 099, I had no idea what expect. I didn 't know if it - the class - was going to be a strict writing class where things are rarely learned. I knew that there was more to writing than just plucking a few keys that resulted with a perfect essay. When entering this class goals had to be in mind and schedules had to be created to be on track regardless of any extrinsic or intrinsic blocks along the way. With critics and commentary from my professor and peers. I 've gained knowledge during this semester that will come in hand throughout the years in any case.

I already knew that I wanted to become a better writer in general. Besides that, I wanted to gain an understanding of how to be grammatically and punctually correct. Another goal I wanted to accomplish is being able to articulate an essay in a shorter process than before. Even though I knew that this was a lot to accomplish in just one semester I knew it could be done. I now feel that I have accomplished most of my goals. I believe this because I have gained a new understanding about writing. I’ve learned that writing doesn 't have to be strict. I also learned that the way most people speak isn 't always correct and it was previously reflected in my writing before this course. For example, referring to a person as “that” isn’t correct because that refers to a thing. This is evident in my writing because I have gradually used less “slang” in my …show more content…
I feel that this essay was difficult for me because it is difficult to write a paper that isn 't all in your opinion. In a compare and contrast essay your paper shouldn 't be basis it should show both sides of the situation. To overcome this instead of just thinking about my views and opinions at first, I gathered information from both sides of the situation. By doing this it made the process of writing the paper a lot easier and with this being said the outcome with be a non-biased paper.
As a writer, this piece best showed what I learned during the semester. This essay really moved me -as a writer- to use every concept that I was taught. This is because when proposing an argument it requires you to gather a lot of information to support your argument. This is what I specifically struggled with the most because I was gathering information, but it wasn 't enough to support what I was comparing or contrasting. When focusing on gathering research on the topic I lost sight of what my essay was actually about meaning I might have compared both items in depth but briefly contrasted both
