By working with fellow lawyers, I will be part of a change to improve the community and decrease crime rates. Furthermore, my life aspirations have always been to become financially stable, and I believe my breakthrough lies solely on the path of education. Before I left Nigeria at a very young age, my mother told me that there’s only one way I could ever change my life, and that is education. I have never held on to something as I have this saying of hers. Upon arriving in the U.S., I was faced with several challenges in middle school; however, I deliberately changed my life when I applied to Lassiter Early College High School when I was fourteen. Since then, I’ve been successfully taking college classes; now not only am I college ready, but I am also successful. In fact, I wanted to gain speed in my educational process in America so I can quickly change my situation and the lives of others. Seeing my mother struggle caused me to love the only thing that could ever set us free, education. For I believe the only skill and resource I will ever need to resolve the financial instability in my family is education. Since my sophomore year in high school, I have made it a decision to make a difference in my community. In my high school career, I was selected as the president of Lassiter Early College Junior World Affairs Council Organization of Dallas. This organization allowed me to lead one of the biggest project in the school which was to help empower children from impoverished families in Cuernavaca, Mexico, to attend school. We aided them with resources such as books in Spanish, bookmarks, etc. they needed to do well in school. In addition, through this organization, our effort in creating change did not stay in the Dallas/ Fort Worth community but also across the state. A member of this organization had a free scholarship in the spring of 2014 to Washington, D.C. to promote “Save the Children 's’ Mission,” were she was able to speak to U.S representatives in order for them to help create change for these children. I volunteer with the knowledge that I am helping someone achieve their needs. Volunteering has played a major role in my life.
