Personal Goal Analysis

My current personal goal is to continue attending Marlboro college. This is an intermediate goal since it fits in in under the rest of my life goals. Continuing to go to a college I am already attending might seem like an easy task but there are a lot of factors that play in this situation, both the ones I can and can’t control. First off, since I am not a U.S. citizen or legal resident, in order to attend college in the U.S. in general I have to have a student visa (F1). I have already taken the masseur in applying for this visa which immigration still hasn’t responded to after well past a year. Which has left me in a pending state. If the answer ever comes, whether it is a yes or no, it is absolutely out of my control. But I have thought …show more content…
Although I have a full tuition scholarship from the school and other smaller ones from outside, considering that I don’t get government funding and my parents help with none of the bills, it is up to me to make sure I am on track with them. The first way I made sure that I was a little bit better set for this year is by signing up for the 20% down payment monthly plan the school has using a third party. I spent the entire summer getting money so I can make the 20% payment. Considering my entire legal issue ‘getting money’ is an entire complication of it’s own. My whole summer 's worth of hard work has gone into that first payment and once the rest of the bill has been divided into eight months of payments starting October 5th, I will have one more scholarship that will come in and lower it but am still in the process of figuring out how I am going to cover for the rest of it. I am currently babysitting the kids of people who work at Marlboro and live close by, but that’s nothing more than pocket money, which doesn’t go into my pocket really. But this mechanism at least buys me time to find other ways, and from what I have learned in life, there’s always a way. Although I do have siblings here that are willing to help as best as they could, which is not much but at least something, I know I have to and want to be as self sufficient as

“I’ve left it up to them and haven’t forced them to do one or the other, but maybe I should.” Other parents can’t afford to give their children that same choice. Eliot Bush, a senior at OSU, was told he had to get a job as soon as his feet hit Stillwater pavement freshman year. “It wasn’t an option for me, If I wanted to go to OSU I was going to have to earn it,” Bush said. Bush started off working 10-15 hours a week to see if he could balance both school and work. He quickly escalated to 25 hours a week and has done this every week since his sophomore year.…

Increasing Minimum Wage Being young in this generation, of course I’ve had a job since my age would allow me, starting at 7.95 an hour. I mean I was still living under the same roof with my mother, and my father is really active in my life. I didn’t really a job, but I always wanted a job, to have a sense of independence.…

In Class Essay Over summer break students forget, on average, one month of grade level equivalency. One way to solve this problem is year round schooling. Year round schooling is when students attend school for about a 9 week period and then get a 2-3 week break. The plan most commonly used in the US for year round schooling is known as the 45-15 plan where peers attend school for 45 weekdays and get a 15 week daybreak. This will allow children go to school the same amount of time, but they will retain more information because there is no summer break.…

Even now I plan a budget so that I can have control over my life (Harry, 2015, p.64) and still be able to do what I want. Recently I submitted a housing petition to RLSH in order to stay off-campus next year; however, it’s not guaranteed I will be allowed to do this. During my first year of school, my family and I have struggled a lot in order to be able to pay for my room and board. Having to put every penny I make at my job towards paying for room and board, and having gotten a loan already, ideally I wont have to stay on campus next year. However, if my petition is rejected I will have to face these struggles once again; with the help of this scholarship not only will I be able to lift weight off my parents’ shoulders, but I will be able to work less and put more time towards my academics and becoming more involved on campus. If I am able to stay off-campus next year, I would use this scholarship towards paying for books, supplies, and to afford to attend an alternative break next school year.…

Picking up hours at work will not work for me since I can only work on the days I have someone to care for my child, which is not often. My biggest funding support, recently, was financial aid. Financial aid rewarded for my tuition, books, college fees, and they’re mailing me a check for $1,800, that is the only way my bills are being paid this month.…
