I am extremely honored to be one of the recipients of the Annenberg-Henrich Scholarship. There will never be enough words to fully express my utmost gratitude for receiving this award when I truly needed it most.
Being raised in a single parent household and having little money growing up has made me appreciate every single thing that I am given. For the past year and a half, money has been immensely tight and making ends meet has not been easy, especially since my mother’s hours were cut at her job. There was always this lingering question in the back of our minds as to whether or not would be able to pay for another semester at La Salle. During my freshman year of college, my mother sacrificed a great deal in order for me to continue my educational career because she would love nothing more than to see me be the first person in my family

After I obtain my bachelor’s degree, I will seek out employment at one of Philadelphia’s public high schools. As a future chemistry teacher, I aspire to steer the next generation in the right direction. I want each and every one of my future students to gain a deep understanding of chemistry and to excel in the course. I desire to be that teacher who shows students their full potential. They will know that it does not matter who you are or where you come from, you can and will succeed at anything you set your mind to. To make a difference in a student’s life and give back to the community will be a major accomplishment in my life.
Once again, thank you for investing in my future and easing the financial burden of college tuition. This award enables me to achieve my goals without having to constantly stress about money while trying to focus on my studies. Please know that this prestigious award will not go in vain. I will continue to work hard and give my all to be the best student and future teacher I can
