Personal Narrative: My Educational Goals At Colorado Christian University

Improved Essays
One should have a desire to continue to learn and pursue further education no matter their age or desires. If you want to accomplish something seek out a way to achieve it no matter what. My educational goal at Colorado Christian University is to finally achieve my goal of becoming a nurse. I would love to finally be in the position to help others in the same way that nurses have helped my family.

I decided on Colorado Christian University because I did not just want to further my knowledge on paper. I felt like I could become a better-rounded person, and future nurse, if I also put more emphasis on God and His desires. I also felt this would also help give me a stronger basis as I am sure there will be many situations that could place me in positions of moral integrity. Because of this I chose to take a biblical class as my first “toe dip” into the college waters that I hadn’t experienced in years. I learned a lot and also gained a better understanding and perspective than I originally had.

I have wanted to become a nurse for years but have always found excuses as to why I couldn’t do it. Be it money, kids, family or work, there was always an excuse. Finally I decided that even if I just started with a class or two then at least it was a start. So that’s what I did. I’ve decided to start small and take two classes at a time in order to complete my pre-nursing course work. While I know it will take me longer in the end, at least on a daily basis I am still working towards achieving that goal. Those baby steps are helping me achieve this goal so I can work towards the next

When I was fifteen years old my dad took me on my first overseas mission trip to Nicaragua. We went to build houses and provide food for people living in the slums. More than that, we went to show these people God's deep love for them. When we got there, it quickly became clear that my job was going to be hanging out with the kids in the neighborhood. I had tried to help with the building project but had developed a constant swarm of children around me that kept bumping into the not quite stable walls.…

I first attended Appalachian about 15 years ago, entering in the class of 2000. Due to personal and family events, I wasn't able to graduate, so I am getting my second chance now, at both a degree and and the valuable experiences that being involved with the community and networking with others can bring. The one thing I did learn from my previous collge experience, both at Appalachain and at the community college I currently attend, is how much value comes from the colege experience outside of class - connecting with others who have different life experiences, and learning and doing things together to improve ourselves and the community. Since I intend to major in Communications/Journalism, I am looking forward to getting involved with student…

When I never thought that I would spend my first two years of college at a community college. I applied to the universities I had in mind during my final year in high school and got accepted into all of them. Unfortunately, the cost was too much to go to any of the colleges, and the scholarship money was barely enough to pay for an entire year. The Honors College Fellows Scholarship was awarded to me, and the Honors College at Lone Star College-North Harris would cover the cost of my first two years of college. It was an Honors College at this community college, and a lot of what I have learned and gained is thanks to this program.…

June had just begun, and along with studying, I had an upcoming saxophone recital for which I had been preparing since April. The Tuesday before my recital, I had my second to last lesson with my teacher, Fred Scerbo, before the recital on Sunday. I was preparing a piece by Charlie Parker named "Anthropology". Despite its difficulty, I felt that I would be able to perform it well.…

Trying to describe one event or experiences that influences my goal in completing Colorado Christian University isn’t possible. I would have to describe my life as a whole. Raising myself since 16 wasn’t easy, but I did it. Technically I’ve raised myself since 14, but I didn’t pay my own rent and bills until I was 16. I should have been legally emancipated but my dad always claimed me on his taxes.…

When I first began searching for colleges as a junior in high school I was baffled on where apply. With so many colleges colleges out there how do you find the one that fits you? Coming from a small, serene high school nestled in the middle of Thousand Oaks I knew I would be interested in a college which was comparable in the number of students, as well as provided a solid education in a healthy environment. That is when I discover California Lutheran University and immediately fell in love with what it displayed. Because Cal Lutheran has such a small student body, it offers the perfect transition from the mainstream high school setting, into the unparalleled college experience which CLU offers.…
