I was born and raised in Lima, Peru. I come from a humble and very poor family. Ever since I was little, I was always intrigued by the medical field. There was something about the white coats, stethoscopes and the kindness the healthcare professionals always offered that grabbed my attention. I often saw myself playing pretend or a nurse with my dolls. I was always the first one to attend for anyone in need or medical care. I just loved to put band aids on everyone. I guess I was naturally drawn into the healthcare field.
Grownups often ask children what they want to be when they grow up, and they get all sorts of answers like astronauts, firefighters, cops, etc.. I was no exception, there was no doubt in my mind what I wanted to be; I wanted to help people feel better. I was still unsure though if I wanted to be a nurse or a doctor. My parents were very supportive of my dreams since I was little. Since I was fours years old, I remembered planning with dad my medical career. At that age, I knew the university I was going to attend and the grades I would need throughout school to get in with a full scholarship. One of my short term goals is to have a healthy weight by summer 2015. I’ve been overweight for quite a while, and being on my feet 12 hours for four days a week is taking a toll on my knees. One of the biggest reasons of such is because my knees are carrying too much weight. I’ve started the process to accomplish this goal by not eating past midnight on days I work and seven o’clock at night on days I have off. Also speed walking has been included in my daily schedule. One of my long term personal is to move out of Jacksonville in two years. I want to gain enough experience as a telemetry nurse and move to another state and see what they have to
