Personal Narrative: A Career In A Nursing Home

Nursing has been around for a very long time. To be successful in any career, you must know the job position, duties and responsibilities. Most (CNA) training programs last about eight weeks. The pay is average, and doesn’t change much, even though some CNA’s have been in the field longer than others. There are many duties that are expected from the CAN and some require good physical ability, as well as, certain characteristics that would make me good for the job. To work in a nursing home one must be sensitive and caring to the needs of others. One must be compassionate, sympathetic, and have great patience. One must also know how to separate their home life from the job, so that they don’t take the job home with them. The key to enjoying any job is that you love the work, and that your heart is in what you do. The course work for a CNA includes knowledge of disease and infection guidelines, medical termology, medical ethnics, patientrights and anatomy. Most of these (CNA) training programs last about eight weeks. When the course work is completed, the applicant must then fill out a form to register as a nurse assistant with their states health department and pass a competency test. Some states do let nurse assistants work for a short time while going through the application process, however some states may not. A nurse assistant can only become a CNA when registration is finished.
(According to payscale.com2014) Some of the tasks of a CNA are to bathe, feed, dress, and groom and help lift patients which require some physical ability. A good CNA must be adaptable to change, able to do more than one tasks at a time, and also be able to keep calm under pressure. A CNA must also record any changes in their patients condition, keep a record of what and when they have eaten, as well as, keep a record of their vital
