A critical care nurse is for a person that has the ability to multitask and prioritize quickly, the ability to administer medication utilizing the five rights, and the ability to communicate verbally and in written form and basic computer knowledge. These types of nurses are prepared to work all over such as in a hospital, nursing homes, or traveling to a person's house around your area. For example, my grandfather had a nurse that visited his house two days a week. She would check his blood pressure, ask what medication he was taking and just ask how he was feeling. It just would save him time for having to travel to the doctor's office for a checkup. On the other hand, the nurse got more money because she was a traveling nurse. If you know for a fact you want to become one you need to know what classes to take in high school. The classes you need to take in high school are like chemistry, biology, math and health classes. The type of education you need after high school to get prepared for this job is college and on the job training. You will need to get a RN-BSN which is a three semester program online or a campus. Training is available for me when I graduate around my home town at a nursing home. There are certain things you need to have before you sign up for classes in college. For example, critical thinking skills, communication skills, compassion, emotional stability and organizational skills. There are tons of things to be done before just jumping right into becoming a critical care nurse. If you think you can walk in and know everything and not have to learn anything you are wrong. It's not going to be something you can learn in one day either it will take some time. Becoming a critical care nurse is not easy and there is work that needs to be done
