My First Job

I always wanted a job while I was attending high school, but because of my age every place that I applied to didn’t want to hire me. The places I applied were looking for people that were at least eighteen years old with experience. So instead I ended up doing seasonal jobs because the companies were just looking for people during holiday seasons. Once I graduated, I started applying to different places again and finally got a call back for an interview. I was excited to work at Macy’s because it was known as a prestigious company. I thought it was going to be a great place to work. After only a month of working there, I found it to be the worst job I have ever had. The customers, management and some of my co-workers are the

There was incident where I had a customer complain and argue with me about a sign that she misread. The customer was angry with me because the pair of pants she wanted to buy was actually not on sale. The sale was for a certain style that was located next to the pair that she wanted. Another incident that I experienced that made this the worst job I have had happened during a Black Friday weekend. I was cleaning out the fitting room when I came across a pile of clothes that customers had left. While picking up the clothes, I noticed a puddle underneath the pile that I found out was urine. I was disgusted that someone would have the audacity to use the fitting room as a restroom. There were also occasions where I found condoms, condom wrappers and other garbage in the fitting …show more content…
There were multiple occasions when I had to work longer shifts or come in on my days off because a coworker called out. One example was during Black Friday, when the store opened at midnight, one of my coworkers called out and I ended up working alone. I had to take my lunch break late because there was nobody to cover my department. I ended up doing twice the work since it was the busiest it had ever been in that department. My coworkers were also rude to customers so that made me look bad because I worked in the same department as them. Customers sometimes received surveys on their receipts and whenever there was a bad review because an employee was rude to them, all the people that worked in the same department were

My first job was one that I had foolishly not considered an 'actual job' until the first day of training, and then another, more prominent realization the first couple days as I started. I applied to work in a position called a Camphand at the summer camp I had been going to for a few years, Camp Chrysalis. Fresh out of my junior year of high school, this was an exciting new opportunity for my peers and I to start working at camp after being a camper in an age appropriate setting. In my head, things had reversed for the better in comparison to the past. Instead of having to pay to go to camp, I was now getting paid to be at camp!…

The age I was at cleaning was not my cup of tea, therefore, I made it clear to the owners I will do everything else, but clean the washrooms, as I don’t even do that at home, and my mom wouldn’t even let me. The owner’s reply was, “you people should be used to that kind of work, what do you mean you can’t do it,” and a whole lot of other inappropriate things that I won’t get into.…

My First Clinical Day Five days ago on February 3rd of 2016 was my first clinical day in the Rehabilitation Center in Key West. Today, before starting to write my weekly journal I started to ask myself how I felt on my first day at the clinic?. Four words came to my mind, pride, joy, fear and anxiety. Pride and joy because I am proud of where I’ve come so far as being an immigrant who came to this country as many others looking for their dream without knowing the language or even the culture. Fear and anxiety because I was nervous about having the feeling of not knowing anything, not knowing about what I would find there, the site or even the people.…
