Personal Essay: Why I Want To Be A Teacher

Decent Essays
From a young age, I had a dream. I had the want to be a teacher, to spent my time in front of a classroom with a group of children listening and learning. In my free time I would sit in my room, a book in hand, reading stories out loud into the abyss. My free time was spent teaching an imaginary class, with homemade assignments, and random picture books off my book shelf, alone in my bedroom. A passion grew with in me to instill knowledge into the minds of children. This desire to teach began to become my vision in second grade, when my teacher was my first inspiration. I adored Mrs. Gibson, my second grade teacher. She was the first teacher to truly make learning fun for me, she encouraged me, stood up for me, and pushed me to want to …show more content…
I had no desire to be in Mrs. Brisk’s class, she was older and scarier looking and not the teacher my sister had in third grade. With in days I was proven wrong for not wanting her as my teacher, she was dedicated and cared for each of us. Mrs. Brisk, was kind hearted, caring, and tried her best to make us enjoy learning. She may have not made everything fun, but she did hit home with one thing in particular, she made me want to read, and to better my reading skills. After so many books that she provided, I would be able to gain a prize, a small glass unicorn or a larger glass unicorn or a bright green stuffed bear. I start to want to read, to get the prize, to get better. Multiple days a month I would stay a few hours after school to spend time with Mrs. Brisk and read, gain prizes, and learn. She was a dedicated teacher, who took extra time out of her day to help her students get better. Mrs.Brisk has inspired me to be dedicated to my student, to be the teacher that gets her students to want to read. I want to be like Mrs.Brisk, to bring an enjoyable atmosphere to my classroom, to give my student an excitement to come to school. She taught me to give each student what they need to learn, to allow that to be a build block not a stopping block. I will work with my student to find the best way for them to learn, to enjoy their work and school, I will push …show more content…

My passion in working with children is out of this world. My mother has had an at-home childcare going on 14 years now, and I have always assisted her with the children, which is where my love for working with children started. I am the happiest when I’m around children of all ages, especially when I’m around to watch them grow as individuals. Nothing is greater than putting your time and effort into bettering a child’s education and watching them progress as times goes on. I am nervous and excited to be a teacher.…

1 I come from a long line of educators and administrators on both sides of my family. Various relatives of mine have taught me to understand and appreciate the importance of education. This being the case, they have inspired my decision to be a teacher, preferably an elementary school teacher. Last year, I sat in on my aunt’s third grade class at Washington Irving, an elementary school in my district that I attended for three years. After visiting the classroom a handful of times, I absolutely fell in love.…

Playing Make Believe It is three thirty on a monday afternoon as I board my yellow bus to go home after a day of school at Herbert Hoover Elementary. I walked through my front door, threw my blue butterfly backpack onto the hook, and ran directly up to my room. At the time, it could be more accurately referred to as my classroom. Inside yellow and blue painted walls with a chalkboard and cliche classroom posters, I taught my class of invisible students the exact same lesson Mrs. Molle taught that day in my first grade class.…

It made me happy that I got to instruct them and made a difference. In high school, I was selected to participate in an elective called IPIE (Instructional Practice in Education.) I went over to the nearby elementary school, and assisted the teacher.…

Pursuing a career in early childhood and special education has been a plan of mine since I can remember being a very young girl, however, circumstances placed before me lead me to believe perhaps it wasn’t achievable for a young country girl named; Tiaira Marie Greene. My interests in early childhood education, mostly special education dates back to my middle-high school years when I began to learn that every person is different, learns differently in all areas of their learning of academics and scholastics capabilities. For whatever reason, I have always struggled to maintain good grades, because exams dropped my overall grades. Homework, projects, quizzes, class work, communication, group projects and collaboration showed successful knowledge…

“Come on, get out of the car. It's not a big deal. You need to get to school,” Those were words that I commonly heard the second half of my freshman year of high school. Of course most high school age kids don’t want to go to school, but it's for trivial reasons like the fact the work is boring. I didn’t want to go to school for a much more complicated reason; anxiety rushed through my body any time I even thought about getting close to the school building.…
