From a young age, I had a dream. I had the want to be a teacher, to spent my time in front of a classroom with a group of children listening and learning. In my free time I would sit in my room, a book in hand, reading stories out loud into the abyss. My free time was spent teaching an imaginary class, with homemade assignments, and random picture books off my book shelf, alone in my bedroom. A passion grew with in me to instill knowledge into the minds of children. This desire to teach began to become my vision in second grade, when my teacher was my first inspiration. I adored Mrs. Gibson, my second grade teacher. She was the first teacher to truly make learning fun for me, she encouraged me, stood up for me, and pushed me to want to learn. Second grade was the year I got glasses, something absolutely devastating for my seven year old self. Mrs.Gibson had glasses and when she found out that I did too, she was more excited for me than I was for myself, she could not wait to see them on me. When I put my ugly new glasses on I was called four eyes by my own cousin, I was crushed, until Mrs. Gibson stood up for me, not only telling my cousin he was wrong, but informing that I look great with glasses. She did not allow any of her students to feel left out or less than the other, we would be able to rent out small stuffed animals to have lunch with or borrow her paint bucket to go paint God around the school.
