Rather than a story of right or wrong, Little Red Riding hood serves as guide for what parents should be teaching their children. For example, parents should be strict and provide a clear set of rules when sending their child off to do something on their own for the first time, like hike into the woods to aid an ill grandmother. Similarly, in stories like “Wolf” the idea of sexual violence is made clear to the reader that is something parents must look out for in their children. This is helping to show its not something one can understand simply by being told about it. One couldn’t possibly understand as a parent the way their child is feeling if they are being sexually abused. The story of “Wolf” provides a way for them to understand that they cannot understand. The main character is a young girl. She loves her mother more than anything and felt that she was always at her side until “he started coming into my [her] room,” and at that time she felt so alone. At such a young age, there is no one she can talk to that could understand what she is going through. Delving into the ideas of empowerment and or the social injustice for those that have been impacted and hurt in ways that cannot be explained or imagined by anyone else.
