On the above date and time I responded to 7631 US 19 New Port Richey (RiverSide Inn), in reference to a possible vehicle theft.

Upon arrival, I made contact with the complainant, who identified himself as Lloyd Byrd by his North Carolina driver’s license. Byrd advised that his companies work truck was stolen from the area of Grand Blvd and River Gulf Rd at approximately 11:00 hours. Byrd stated that he went to that area with a white male subject that he did not know to get something to eat. Byrd advised that when he parked at the destination, he turned off the ignition and exited the vehicle leaving the keys inside. Byrd stated the white male subject, then entered to the driver side of the vehicle, and started the vehicle and then sped off

Koch arrived on scene and question Byrd about the incident due to the unlikely events that Byrd stated had taken place. After Cpt. Koch questioned Byrd, Byrd then changed his story and advised that the real reason he went to the area of Grand Blvd and River Gulf Rd with the subject was to buy some marijuana. Byrd stated that when the two of them got to the parking lot of Sully’s Shack located at 7751 Grand Blvd, Port Richey the subject who he only knew as “Majestic” requested that he let him take possession of the vehicle. Byrd advised that the male subject stated that he could not bring anybody to the location where he was going to pick up the marijuana therefore, Byrd had to wait in the parking lot. Byrd stated that he agreed to give possession of the vehicle to the male subject and then gave the male subject $17.00 to buy Byrd some marijuana. Byrd advised that male subject then left the area and did not return. Bryd stated that he walked back to the motel that the subject was staying at located at 7532 US 19, New Port Richey (Travel Inn) in hopes that the subject would return. Byrd stated that he observed the subject driving the vehicle in the area of the Travel Inn, however, the subject left the area immediately after observing Byrd. Byrd then completed a voluntary statement
