On 01/30/2017 at approximately 1931 hours, I was dispatched by Cortez Dispatch, for a suspicious vehicle, described as a green Chevy pickup, at the Pueblo Community College located at 33057 Hwy 160, in the County of Montezuma, and State of Colorado.
Upon approach, I saw a vehicle driving into the parking lot from the westbound lane on Hwy 160. Upon arrival, I saw the vehicle matched the description I was given. The vehicle drove through the parking lot and began to head back towards the exit. I saw a male subject standing outside of the main building, wearing a reflective security vest, waving his arms and pointing at the pickup that was heading towards the exit. I got behind the pickup and activated my overhead lights to signal the vehicle to pull over. The pickup truck came to a complete stop where the driveway for the college met Hwy 160. I exited my patrol vehicle and approached the driver’s side front door.
I introduced myself and advised the reason for the stop. I asked him for his driver’s license, registration, and proof of insurance. The driver began to reach into things. I asked him if he had anything in the vehicle I needed to know about. The driver stated he had a can of coke, and a bottle of rum. He then stated the can of coke had rum mixed in …show more content…
Robert stated he had looked for his driver’s license even though I told him not to move his hands. He stated he could not find it. Robert stated he didn’t have any weapons in the car, and that I could search the vehicle if I wanted to. I verified with Robert that he was giving me consent to search his vehicle. Robert said yes, you can search. I asked Robert to step out of the vehicle and stand at the back of the vehicle with Deputy Goodall. Robert got out and went to the rear of the vehicle. I began to search the vehicle. I found a coke can which was almost empty, several empty coke cans on the passenger side floor, and a bottle of Liquor which was ¾
